Expectant parents found dead after disappearing on Valentine’s Day

The family of an expectant Alabama couple, who were found murdered after they disappeared on Valentine’s Day, is appealing for information that could help with the investigation into their killings.

According to AL.com, the couple, identified as Liyah Webster, 20, and Chris Norris, 20, were looking forward to their Disney-themed gender reveal party on April 6. But they could not live to see that day as they were found fatally shot in their car on February 16 in Wylam, Birmingham.

The last time Webster and Norris were seen was on Valentine’s Day, and they were supposedly heading to a theatre for a movie date. Sherita Clark, who is Norris’ cousin, said they became worried after efforts by the victims’ mothers to contact them on February 15 proved futile.

“Normally they’d check in throughout the day,” Clark said. “There’s not a day that goes by that they’re not communicating with someone in their family.”

The family later started to panic when they were still unable to reach out to them. “It had been a full 24 hours and no one had seen them or heard from them,’’ said Clark. “You get a little concerned when you don’t talk to them for one day but when it hits two days and no one has heard from them, that becomes a problem.”

The family on the night of February 15 ultimately reported their disappearance to the Birmingham Police Department. As the search for the couple continued, the family decided to go to the dealership where Norris purchased his white Ford Taurus, AL.com reported. They ultimately managed to identify the area where the vehicle was after pinging it. The couple’s bodies were later found in their car in Wylam.

“We need people to come forward and tell what they know,’’ Clark said in reference to their killings. “People know what’s going on. I have a few tips also.”

Clark also said she could not tell why her cousin and his pregnant girlfriend were murdered. “I don’t think there’s any justification for killing someone no matter what the circumstance was,’’ Clark said.

“I don’t think the families would care why this would happen,’’ she added. “I just think they want the person taken off the streets before it happens again.”
