These five African countries have one thing in common: Chinese built railways

There’s no doubt China has been investing heavily in Africa over the past couple of years. Like it or not, they’re playing a key role in the infrastructural development of some African countries. Be it in the form of financial aid, labour or equipment, the results are there for us to see.

Railway construction and expansion in Africa has been one major area the Chinese government is keen on. According to xinhuanet.com, “Data from the Chinese government shows that China, through aid and financing support, has helped build or are building more than 6,200 kilometers of railways in Africa.”

In light of this, let’s take a look at five African countries whose railway system is “A-OK” thanks to Chinese aid:
