Lixus

Different parts of Lixus have been occupied by many civilisations but it was first inhabited by the Phoenicians about 2,000 years ago. There is folklore about this settlement that states that at one point it was the mythological Garden of the Hesperides. Lixus is located on the outskirts of Larache and can be accessed on foot or by taxi. The archaeological site has mosaic floors, an amphitheatre, Roman baths, and a Christian Church.
