Mati Diop

Diop comes from a family with an intimate connection to the arts. Her father is a musician, her mother is an art buyer and her uncle is a filmmaker.

Diop walked in like paths like the rest of her family and became a filmmaker and actress. She has been in the business for the last decade.

In 2019, the French-Sengalese became the first black woman to be nominated to win the Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for her supernatural romantic drama, Atlantics.
