Rat Race

This song was released in 1976 as part of the Rastaman Vibration album. This production was not “Bob Marley and the Wailers.”

Rat Race speaks to the instability and lawlessness that forces out of society’s people, desperation and malaised individualism. Marley describes how everyone shifts into survival mode trying to get their own piece of the pie.

In today’s world of the excesses of capitalism, with the poor getting poorer, Rat Race seems prophetic.
