Later, when scripts were found by archaeologists, we learn that ancient Egypt’s archivists referred to Akhenaten as “the criminal” or “the enemy”.
If we want to know why this was so, we cannot dismiss the fact that Akhenaten’s imposition of one god on the Egyptians hurt the people’s feelings.
The people who have known a way of life that saw them praying to different gods for different reasons, were under Akhenaten, supposed to worship just Aten, the king’s sun-god.
