Had it not been for the heroics of undocumented Malian immigrant Mamoudou Gassama, the life of a four-year-old boy would have been cut short.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Gassama can be seen without any protection whatsoever bravely climbing to the fourth floor of a building to rescue the child clinging on to his life on a balcony.

Being cheered on and encouraged by onlookers, it took him just about thirty seconds to prevent the tragedy from happening.

As a reward and appreciation for his heroics, Gassama met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace where he confirmed he would be granted French citizenship.

He was also awarded a medal of courage and a certificate and offered a job in the fire service.
