Cam’ron has filed a lawsuit against fellow rapper J. Cole, claiming that the latter did not stick to his end of the bargain after they recorded their Ready ’24 track.
Per Billboard, the song, which features Cam’ron, was recorded in June 2022, and it ultimately made the cut for Cole’s 2024 Might Delete Later mixtape.
In court documents obtained by the news outlet on Tuesday, Cam’ron, 49, claims that he and Cole, 40, struck a barter deal for his featured verse on the song. Cam’ron claims that Cole agreed to return the favor by either collaborating with him on another song or appearing on his sports talk show, It Is What It Is.

Cam’ron, in the suit, claims that in September 2022, he asked Cole to collaborate with him on two pre-recorded songs. But Cole allegedly said that it would be better if they worked on an entirely new song. Cam’ron claims that their initially planned collaboration did not see the light of day.
Cam’ron further alleges that he contacted Cole in July 2023 about appearing on It Is What It Is, adding that the defendant said he was going to honor the invitation in the future. The suit states that Cam’ron also regularly communicated with Cole before the 2024 release of Might Delete Later. But Cole, on multiple occasions, said that he could not make time to appear on Cam’ron’s sports talk show, per the suit.
Besides Cole, the lawsuit also names Universal Music Group (UMG) as a defendant. Cam’ron claims that he hasn’t received any compensation for his contribution to Ready ’24, Billboard reported. He further estimates that the song has amassed over $500,000 in royalties and profits, and he is therefore seeking his share from those proceeds.
