On July 30, a six-part docu-series detailing the life of Trayvon Martin titled, Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, will premiere on Paramount Network.

The project was executive produced by Jay-Z as well as Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.

The Weinstein Company along with Harvey Weinstein were original producers on the film. The Weinstein entity was removed amid Weinstein’s rape allegations.

Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old African-American teenager who was gunned down by George Zimmerman on February 26, 2012. Zimmerman claimed self-defence despite Martin being unarmed. Zimmerman was later acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges.
