Besides being friends for many years, veteran actors Eddie Murphy, 64, and Martin Lawrence, 60, share another special bond, as the former’s son and the latter’s daughter are married.

The pair’s relationship recently got stronger as Murphy’s son, Eric, and Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin, took to social media to announce they’re expecting a baby. That means Murphy and Lawrence will soon become grandparents of the same child.

“Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️” Jasmin wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. The post also includes a photo of Jasmin smiling and looking down on Eric as he kneels and holds her baby bump.

Eric and Jasmin tied the knot last year after dating for three years, TMZ reported. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show last year, Murphy revealed his son and Jasmin had already tied the knot, albeit in a lowkey manner, Face2Face Africa reported at the time.

Murphy told the host that Eric and Jasmin “ran off and got married,” NBC News reported. “Actually they got married two weeks ago,” the Beverly Hills Cop star revealed. “They went off — everybody was making their big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”

As tradition usually stipulates, the father of the bride usually foots the wedding bill, but Murphy, on a lighter note, said that won’t be the case for Lawrence as he doesn’t have “to pay for the big wedding now.” And despite deciding to go lowkey with the wedding, Murphy said they could probably have a “big party” in the future.

Eric and Jasmin became romantically involved in 2021, and the latter, in an interview with InTouch Weekly, revealed they did not actually meet through their celebrity fathers.

“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together,” Jasmin said. “They’re friends. I don’t even know. It’s crazy. But we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level.”
