Comedy legends Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have taken their relationship to a much more personal level as they are now one big family.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Thursday, Murphy, 64, revealed his son Eric and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin had already tied the knot, albeit in a lowkey manner.
Murphy told the host that Eric, 35, and Jasmin, 29, “ran off and got married,” NBC News reported. “Actually they got married two weeks ago,” the Beverly Hills Cop star revealed. “They went off — everybody was making their big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”
As tradition usually stipulates, the father of the bride usually foots the wedding bill, but Murphy on a lighter note said that won’t be the case for Lawrence, 60, as he doesn’t have “to pay for the big wedding now.” And despite deciding to go lowkey with the wedding, Murphy said they could probably have a “big party” in the future.
Eric and Jasmin haven’t publicly announced their marriage, and it could not be established if the couple knew Murphy was going to spill the beans. The couple’s marriage came after they took to Instagram in November to reveal they were engaged.
Eric and Jasmin became romantically involved in 2021, and the latter in an interview with InTouch Weekly revealed they did not actually meet through their celebrity fathers.
“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together,” Jasmin said. “They’re friends. I don’t even know. It’s crazy. But we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level.”
