Mercy Miller, the son of American rapper and actor Master P, made history in a recent high school basketball game. In a 104-44 victory over Oakwood, Miller, a four-star recruit from Notre Dame High School in Florida, scored 68 points, setting a school record for the most points in a single game, according to Sports Illustrated.
The 6-foot-4 guard helped Notre Dame win the CIF State Division I championship last season by shooting 28 of 38 from the field and averaging 17.1 points and 8.8 rebounds.
The rising sensation signed with Houston last month. Miller told TMZ Sports, “It was between Houston and Duke for me when I was growing up. When I went to Houston, I really fell in love with it. When they offered me, Coach Kelvin Sampson—he’s a great guy and the connection was there so I just felt might as well just wrap it up and get this over with.”
According to Sports Illustrated, Notre Dame is now ranked eighth among boys basketball teams in the SBLive Southern Section Top 25.
Miller finished with 68 points, beating the school record of 66 set by Bud Fabian in 1969, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In August, it was announced that Miller would be joining Bryce James at Notre Dame, creating a formidable high school basketball squad, according to The Source.
