The three black beauty queens do not only hold 3 of the most important and coveted pageant titles in the U.S. but have contributed to black history by making 2019 the year three black women were beauty queens in America. Aside from making the black community in the U.S. feel black and proud, the names Chelsie Kryst, Nia Franklin and Kaleigh Garris have since May 2, 2019, broken the internet and made all other forms of entertainment news less relevant.
This is a more than significant moment in history because while beauty pageants date as far back as the 1920s, black women were not allowed to take part in them until years later. It was not until the 1980s when a black woman won a major pageantry title.
Aside from being stunning beauty queens who represent the Black girl magic movement standing for diversity and inclusion, we at Face2Face Africa could not help but wonder who they really are and what they do aside representing women of color.
