Tennis star Naomi Osaka has announced her separation from rapper Cordae Brooks after five years together.

The four-time Grand Slam champion shared the news on her Instagram story, emphasizing there was no animosity between them.

“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” Osaka wrote.

“No bad blood at all—he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly, I’m really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing, and I’ve grown so much from our time together.”

The couple, who began dating in 2019, share a one-year-old daughter, Shai. Known for their public support of each other’s careers—Cordae cheering from the stands at Osaka’s matches and Osaka attending his concerts—their split marks the end of a widely admired partnership.

Osaka has faced challenges on and off the court in recent months. Her comeback season after giving birth in July 2023 was cut short due to recurring injuries, including back and abdominal issues that forced her to retire from the ASB Classic final in New Zealand. These setbacks have placed her participation in the upcoming Australian Open in doubt.

Despite the breakup, Osaka’s focus remains on her daughter and co-parenting with Cordae.

In a 2023 interview with InStyle, she shared, “We’ve built a really good foundation. At the end of the day, we both want what’s best for Shai.”
