A grieving husband is calling on authorities to investigate the death of his wife, who was detective with the NYPD, after she received a butt lift and liposuction procedure in Colombia.
Per the New York Post, Det. Alicia Stone, 40, died last Thursday, which was a week after she underwent the procedures. Stone was found unresponsive in her hotel room, and she was then taken to the Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital in the city of Cali.
Stone was later pronounced dead at the hospital, with sources saying that her cause of death was ruled as “unspecified cardiac arrest.” Following her surgery, sources also said that Stone was taking anticoagulants and pain medication and was booked in a hotel to recover.
“The doctor who called me from Colombia just called me and told me my wife had just passed away,” Stone’s husband, Michael Stone, told the Daily News. “She didn’t have any information to tell me when I was asking her….Something just doesn’t add up.”
“To be called Thursday and told that she passed away, that is just shocking and hurtful,” Michael added. “I don’t have the facts, and that’s what I need, the facts of what happened.”

Michael also said that his wife was “perfectly fine” after the surgery, adding that she also informed her relatives she was OK on the eve of her death.
In a fundraiser that was set up by Stone’s family after her death, she was described as a “loving mother of three, and a dedicated public servant who spent her career protecting and serving others.”
“Alicia’s kindness, courage, and compassion touched everyone she met, both in and out of uniform. Her unexpected passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of her family, friends, and fellow officers,” the fundraiser added.
BBL remains the fastest-growing cosmetic surgery in the world, even though there are dangers associated with it. When done incorrectly, it could lead to loss of life, and the estimated death rate from fat embolism may be as high as one in 3,000.
