Derek Walcott
Saint Lucian poet Derek Walcott received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992. He was also an academic who taught writing in some of the most prestigious universities.
Walcott was particularly excellent with preaching his spirituality through his poetry. Themes such as benediction and transcendentalism are abundant in Walcott’s poems.
His magnum opus was Omeros, for which he gained worldwide recognition.
