Cecil the lion
The killing of Cecil the lion with an arrow outside the Hwange National Park in Western Zimbabwe in 2015 by an American dentist and big-game hunter Walter Palmer sparked a global outcry.
Animal rights organizations and conservationists around the world were further outraged after the government of Zimbabwe announced that it would not be charging Palmer because he had a hunting permit.
Also, charges against Theo Bronkhorst, a local hunter who assisted Palmer in the killing of Cecil were dismissed.
