James Baldwin on Being Black In America – 1960

In this sit-down interview on Canadian TV, Baldwin pushes against the myth that America’s south, and not necessarily the whole of America, is the problem black people would have to overcome.

Of racism, he tells his interviewer that “it’s not a southern problem, it’s a national problem.” Baldwin then goes on to demystify America’s racial problem with quite simple arguments.
