Remembering the black entertainment pacesetters who brought colour to the big screen

Africa has caught the attention of the western world this year. When it comes to books, fashion, music, sports and the movie industry, it seems all eyes are on Africa to produce great content and be the muse of many other western industries.

Over the weekend, news broke out about Disney’s intention to make an original live-action fairy tale movie about an African princess called Sade. This is coming after the huge success of the Black Panther movie after it was released earlier this year in January.

With all the rage and excitement, we take a few minutes to remember the first black appearances on the big screen over the years that has gradually led to great achievements like these.
