Rick Ross may be a towering figure in the rapper game but when it comes to choosing the right gift for any benefactor, more goes into input than writing lines for a masterpiece. This was the case when he decided to gift Shaquille O’Neil, who stands at 7 feet 1 inch, a chain with his label name on it.

In October, Ross attracted viral attention when he presented Shaq with a custom chain featuring his record label’s emblem, Maybach Music Group. The rapper had been quiet over what went into crafting the chain. But, he has now broken his silence detailing the craftsmanship behind creating a necklace for someone of Shaq’s prominence and stature, according to People.

He maintained that in the quest for perfection, he chose emeralds that were impeccable and fit the purpose they were meant for. He explained that because the chain was meant for a 7-foot individual, consideration must be made since what would be proportionate for his size won’t be the same for Shaq.

Ross noted that as a result of the size of the beneficiary, he tripled the jewelry, given that there were no associated budgetary constraints. He added that it also influenced the choice of a larger pendant and a thicker Cuban link for the chain.

“But it was definitely worth it,” he added. “And it felt great. You know what I’m saying? I’m delighted that the homie enjoyed it. He kept texting me for the next few days.”

Shaq and Ross extend their discussions beyond jewelry, exploring business franchising and strategic ventures through text. Their shared interest in music manifested in a recent collaboration on the remix of the single “Shaq & Kobe” for Ross and Meek Mill’s November album, “Too Good to Be True.”

This musical connection follows Ross’s recognition of Shaq as an artist, initiated by his purchase of Shaq’s debut LP, “Shaq Diesel,” in 1993. Ross expressed deep appreciation for Shaq’s collaboration, stressing the significance of mutual respect for each other’s talents. He added that the symbolic gesture of placing a Maybach Music piece around Shaq’s neck holds great meaning for him.

Despite Shaq’s towering presence, his larger-than-life personality continues to shine brightly.
