Constructing your own abode can be fulfilling but for celebrated gymnast Simone Biles, constructing her Texas mega mansion with her husband has its own trail of challenges especially when they are building from scratch. The 26-year-old gymnast has been documenting the process on social media since March, offering a glimpse into the couple’s journey in creating their custom residence.
The Olympian intimated that the latest addition they made is the addition of trim to the interiors, which is the edge material used to cover seams and joints around doors and windows, between floors, and on walls or ceilings. The Olympian admitted this has not been without challenges, expressing surprise at its difficulty compared to her initial expectations.
On her Instagram stories on Wednesday, Biles revealed the progress inside her upcoming Texas home. Gray molding now adorns the previously bare wooden planks, showcasing advancements in the construction. The athlete indicated that what she expected to be a brief 30-minute visit turned into a six-hour effort due to unforeseen challenges during the trim installation process.
Though she refrained from disclosing specific details about the problem encountered during her home construction, she told her followers on social media that she felt “confused as f**k” and began to “panic” when the issue arose.
She explained that she sought support from her father, calling him for backup, and reassured followers that her husband Jonathan Owens would handle the resolution of the situation, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Biles expressed pride in the achievements she had chalked despite encountering challenges during her home construction. In a final post, the gold medalist revealed a snapshot displaying bathroom tiles stained with yellow paint.
She couldn’t hold back her frustration with the home construction process, using red angry face emojis to convey her feelings.
The Olympic gold medalist and her husband began building their home in March, sharing updates on social media. Earlier milestones included breaking ground and celebrating the completion of the first set of stairs in August.
Biles previously detailed plans for a second-floor master bedroom with amenities such as a private balcony, game room, wet bar, theater, and bathroom. The property is located in the greater Houston area, where Biles spent her childhood.
In October, she shared her excitement about the progress of her home construction, specifically noting the installation of frames for sliding doors. She expressed her joy at being one step closer to calling the house her own.
In early November, the Olympian posted more images from inside the construction site, including one where she grins amidst the half-built home. Another photo showcased sliding glass doors with a breathtaking view of a nearby lake.
Biles made a return to gymnastics in August after a two-year hiatus due to mental health issues, which led to her withdrawal from multiple events at the 2020 Olympic Games.
