Sadio Mane has tied the knot with his 19-year-old girlfriend, Aisha Tamba, according to Daily Mail. The wedding is reported to have occurred on January 7 in Keur Massar, Dakar, just six days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mane, who joined the Senegal squad for the tournament, discreetly married Tamba during his journey, with the couple keeping their relationship private until after the wedding. The attendees of the event included family, friends, and fellow footballers, according to Daily Mail.
Mane’s newlywed wife hails from Casamance, a town neighboring Bambali—Mane’s hometown. Mane has been actively involved in philanthropy in Bambali, contributing funds for the construction of a hospital, mosque, school, and petrol station. He has supported local students by providing learning materials, as reported by the Bayo News Network.
Tamba is a student at the Cabis School in Grand Mbao Baobab, Senegal, according to Essentially Sports. She is said to be fluent in Mandingo, a language spoken in various regions of Senegal and The Gambia, and Mane is also proficient in the same language.
According to Pulse Sports, Mane pledged to marry Tamba from the beginning of their relationship, which reportedly began during his time with Liverpool. Tamba is not active on social media and values a private life.
Mane, aged 31, had previously expressed his preference for a partner who is not on any social media platforms, aligning with Tamba’s approach to privacy.
“I want to marry a woman who respects God and prays well. Everyone has their own way of making their choice of love,” he said in 2022.
Tamba was reportedly intended for Mane since her teenage years and the two share the same religion (Islam). Official wedding photos were shared on @SMane_Officiel, with the caption “thanks to God” in Arabic.
While Mane first noticed Tamba at the age of 16, he did not approach her formally at that time. Instead, he communicated his intentions to his uncle, a family friend, ultimately leading to their union, as reported by Sports Brief. The legal age of consent in Senegal is 16.
Photographs of Mane’s wedding in Senegal have been shared on Instagram by the photography company @Magvision_Evens_Officiel. The images depict Mane and his wife holding hands and posing after the ceremony. One particular photo captures the couple seated beneath a display of roses with the inscription “Mrs Mane” on the wall.
A video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @abdullahayofel shows the newlyweds sharing smiles and laughter while sitting together on a sofa after the wedding.
It was captioned: “A very simple and humble man, congratulations Sadio Mane. May Allah bless your union.”
