Pamela Mann gave birth this month at Grandview Medical Center to a baby weighing over 13 pounds. Paris Halo, the newborn, was born healthy.
Mann’s due date was originally March 20, according to her family.
However, Mann said that during her usual ultrasound three to four weeks ago, the technician informed her that her baby weighed roughly 10 pounds, so the doctor scheduled a C-section for March 4.
According to Mann, everyone was dumbfounded when the infant weighed more than 13 pounds at birth.
She told WBRC, “Everybody in the ER — they were amazed. They were like, “OMG.” Oh, this is a big baby!’ So I’m like, ‘Is something wrong? What’s wrong? And once they actually just said she’s just big, I just broke out into tears! … It’s an amazing experience. They say you can go through a lot, and I went through a lot with her, but everything’s been great and smooth.”
Baby Paris, according to Grandview Medical Center, was 22 inches long and weighed 13 pounds, 4 ounces.

Meanwhile, according to Healthline, full-term babies weigh an average of 7 pounds, 5 ounces.
Though baby Paris is in the NICU for additional care while her mother is in the hospital, she has been doing well, WBCR reported on Wednesday.
Mann, on the other hand, said she is thrilled that she carried Paris to 39 weeks and that she is looking forward to loving her for many years to come.
They plan to return home in a few days.
