R&B singer Ari Lennox was on Monday arrested by security at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport for disturbing public order. Born Courtney Shanade Salter, Lennox’s arrest came after she claimed she had been racially profiled by airline staff, Reuters reported.

“I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me,” the 30-year-old shared on Twitter on Monday. The singer, in an earlier post, also criticized “Amsterdam security”, saying they “hate black people.”

“I just want to go home. I’ll never leave my house again,” she added in a follow-up tweet.

The Dutch military police told the news outlet they detained Lennox because she had allegedly been aggressive towards an airline staff. They also said she appeared to be drunk. “Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down,” a spokesperson said. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”

The spokesperson also said they couldn’t tell how long Lennox would be detained as the police are looking into allegations of possible threats the singer made during the alleged confrontation.

Lennox released her critically acclaimed debut studio album, Shea Butter Baby, in 2019. The Dreamville Records signee has also worked with a host of popular musicians including J. Cole, Summer Walker, Skip Marley and Jazmine Sullivan.
