Habib Bourguiba

Bourguiba was the father of modern Tunisia. A man raised to be a lawyer, Bourguiba managed to find his way to simplicity in channeling his nationalist thoughts to the masses.

He theorised a sort of political pragmatism that was unheeded by religion. Throughout his reign too, Bourguiba was also particular on Tunisian identity having presided over a country with a lot of ethnic groups.
