According to the 2017 WHO data on Road Traffic Accidents Deaths, Tanzania has reached 17,840 or 4.78% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate is 43.56 per 100,000 of population ranks Tanzania number 9 in the world.

Last year, the country had a rate of 32.9 deaths per 100,000 people ranking sixth in the highest incidence of car accidents anywhere in the world.
