In the 1930s, Ella Washington dropped out of school in the sixth grade to work on the family farm. She married and had children, but she held on to her dream of attaining a college degree.

Washington earned her GED diploma after completing an adult education program at 49 and in 2012, she enrolled in Liberty’s online program and graduated with a college degree at the age of 89 years.

Washington earned her associate degree in interdisciplinary studies making her Liberty University’s oldest graduate.
