He won awards for his hit song
The successes Billy recorded on the charts were not the only big moments in his basket, in 1985 he won the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance Grammy for Caribbean Queen. Another accomplishment on his list of strides was a nomination he earned at the Brit Awards as Best British Male Artist in 1987. He was also awarded the “2010 MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award” in England, and later received a lot of offers from concert organizers to perform his track. One of those which he honored was at Live Aid, Philadelphia, in 1986. The University Of Warminster, in London also awarded him with an Honorary Doctorate of Music in 2002.
