Locs
Dreadlocks or locs is a hairstyle that involves matting the hair by not coming or wetting for a period of time so that it doesn’t shed and grows longer at a faster rate. Locs were particularly a trending topic in 2017 for the reason that they were prohibited to be worn in the military but then the Navy branch of the armed forces revised their regulations to allow female navy members to be able to wear locs in uniform.
Dreads as the style is also known has long been known to cause controversy because it has been seen as unprofessional and has caused some individuals to lose their jobs. The word dread has a negative connotation as it can be perceived that the hairstyle is dreadful or an eyesore. As pictured above, locs can be worn in a variety of ways to suit unique environments.
