West Harlem Group Assistance To Celebrate 45 Years of Community Development at Anniversary Gala, October 18th

by F2FA, 1:12pm September 28, 2016,

On Tuesday, October 18th, West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc. (WHGA), a leading community based development corporation, will be hosting its annual awards gala in celebration of 45 years of community building and impact in Harlem.

45 years ago, a handful of Harlem citizens determined to rebuild and revitalize a deteriorating neighborhood established WHGA. Since that time, WHGA has been a catalyst for community development and social services, building an affordable housing portfolio comprised of over 1,200 units.

Over the past 44 years, WHGA has maintained an energetic mission to improve Harlem’s physical and economic outlook.

The annual awards were established to honor outstanding leaders in community development, while raising critical funds to support their comprehensive housing development and community programs.

This year’s awards will honor Reginald Higgins, Principal at Ralphe Bunche School, Hazel Dukes, President, NAACP NYS, and David N. Dinkins, 106th Mayor of the City of New York.
