A 32-year-old woman, who was filmed pushing a 63-year-old off an MBTA bus in Boston, has expressed her remorse after she accepted a plea deal in connection with the incident.
According to CBS News, the September 8 incident occurred in the neighborhood of Roxbury. The suspect, identified as Luz Pineda, was charged with one count of assault and battery on an elder or disabled person with injury. Pineda initially entered a not guilty plea.
She is said to have pushed the 63-year-old woman off the MBTA bus after they got into an altercation as she was attempting to alight. Prior to the push, the victim had declined to move, causing Pineda to scream at her. The suspect then went ahead to push the victim off the bus.
“The Commonwealth is concerned with this level of aggression out of nowhere,” the prosecutor said.

The woman suffered a concussion, a cut to the outer corner of her eye and a broken blood vessel in her neck and eye, CBS News reported. Pineda’s attorney said that she was “deeply regretful and sorry” for her actions, adding that she “makes no excuse for her conduct.”
Pineda was handed a 24-month probation. During her period of probation, Pineda is barred from boarding the MBTA or trying to get in touch with the victim. She will also be in home confinement for three months unless she has to step out for medical appointments for herself or her children.
