New York, NY –On Wednesday night, Africans in the Media and Creative Industry (AMCI) staged an invite-only inaugural launch event at New York’s iconic landmark, the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel (36 Central Park South, Manhattan, NY).

Inaugural AMCI Launch Post-Press ReleaseThis prestigious kick-off, hosted by media professional and AMCI founder Mr. Peter Jallah, Account Director at Newsweek & The Daily Beast, was the first mega-media event in New York City (NYC) dedicated to promoting African journalists, publishers, and creative professionals.

The mixer attracted the best and brightest in the media and creative fields, including: Macdella Cooper, philanthropist and founder of the Macdella Cooper Foundation Academy in Liberia; Lola Ogunnaike, Entertainment Journalist and former CNN correspondent; Georgie Badiel, Supermodel, Co-founder of Models 4 Water, and Founder of Georgie’s Garden; Ger Duany, Supermodel, Actor and Activist, as well as many others.

The audience listened to afro-beats tunes from DJ Universe, creator of the new wave of African beats in the United States, Afro-Electronica.

This successful launch event sent a strong message on the importance of convening a cross section of Africa’s intellectual through collaboration, networking, and sharing ideas,” emphasized AMCI founder Mr. Peter Jallah. He further added, “It is the first concerted effort to cultivate a launch-pad for exploring the professional and social impact of Africans in media. AMCI will become the largest media event that pulls together an all-star lineup of African professionals from world-class media and Fortune 500 companies to creative start-ups and dotcom industries.”
