A mother of four has died under bizarre circumstances during her routine exercise at an LA Fitness gym in Washington State. The incident occurred when 36-year-old Delrie Rosario struck her head on a treadmill at the gym in the city of Kent on July 21. Rosario attempted to slow down the machine, but she missed a step, leading to a collapse and a head injury.

According to her family, no staff members of the fitness center came to her aid despite other gym-goers stopping their workouts. She was rushed to a local hospital but didn’t regain consciousness and was pronounced dead.

Rosario’s sister, Marissa Woods, revealed that her organs were donated to save the lives of five people on organ donor waiting lists. She praised her sister’s generosity and expressed how Rosario’s big heart will continue to help others even after her passing.

Rosario was a devoted mother who worked two jobs to provide for her children, Delaino, Rickey, Ric’Kae, and Delaiah. Her friends set up a GoFundMe page to support her surviving children, and it has already raised $46,650 toward its $75,000 target by Friday.

While deaths on treadmills are rare, thousands of people are injured on them each year. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, treadmills account for the highest number of exercise-related injuries in homes. In 2020, around 15,800 patients were treated in emergency rooms for treadmill-related injuries, and the number was 22,500 in 2019, according to The Washington Post.

To prevent accidents on treadmills, experts recommend giving the exercise machine plenty of space, always using the safety key, and never stepping off a moving treadmill.

Rosario’s untimely death has left her family, friends, and community in grief, but her legacy of saving lives through organ donation will be remembered and cherished. Her family and friends eulogized her on how she was a good mother who possessed qualities that endeared her to many.
