President Joseph Biden went to the polls early for the 2024 general election. On Monday, he was one of many people waiting in line to cast their ballots at an early voting location at the State of Delaware Department of Elections, which is located not far from his house outside of Wilmington, Delaware, according to the Associated Press.
As he waited his turn, Biden, 81, spoke with voters and assisted in pushing an elderly woman in a wheelchair in front of him.
The senior citizen was visibly astonished and moved when she discovered that the hands holding her chair were those of the President of the United States. As the president addressed her, she appeared pleasantly thrilled as well.
Many netizens who viewed the images posted by X user @NikkiSchwab were moved by his thoughtful gesture.
Some praised the president in their comments, while others expressed how dumbfounded they would have been in the woman’s position.
The president, meanwhile, stood in line for almost forty minutes before casting his ballot.
After giving the election worker his credentials and signing a form, the election worker declared, “Joseph Biden now voting.” As the president voted behind a black drape, some first-time voters were announced, and the audience applauded them.
When asked outside the polling station if he believes Democrats have a strong chance of winning, Biden responded, “I think we will.”
Biden ended his reelection campaign in July due to rising health concerns and worries about his chances of defeating former President Donald Trump.
Biden has been a candidate for office or has served during an election cycle since 1970.
