Mo Farah literally didn’t let the thieves who stole his phone get away with it. The shocking incident occurred while the four-time Olympic gold medalist in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters was out on a run last week with his wife Tania Nell.
He had left his phone on the side of a private road leading to the large Surrey estate the couple shares, intending to retrieve it at the end of their run. However, as they left the house, Farah saw a white van approach and two men take his phone, according to The Times.
The thieves then got back into the van, and Farah began to chase down the vehicle at “full throttle,” a witness told the outlet.
The 41-year-old athlete quickly caught up to the van, and the robbers reportedly handed over Farah’s phone without issue.
According to the outlet, the incident is being investigated.
Farah and Nell were married in 2010 and have three kids: a son named Hussein and twin daughters Aisha and Amani. Farah is also stepfather to Nell’s daughter Rihanna.
At the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, he won double golds in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter events, making him the most decorated track athlete in British history. In addition, he won two silver and six gold medals at the World Championships during his running career.
The Olympian made no public comments about the incident, but he was allegedly outraged that the white vehicle was able to breach the luxury estate’s security system, according to Runners World.
