Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Tershawn Wharton became a hero after his team’s victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday as he had to step in to avert a near disaster on the spur of the moment.

As he approached a young fan to give him his gloves, the child fell out of the stands. Wharton quickly rescued the fan, and footage of the incident has since gone viral. The video even features Travis Kelce in the background, according to Daily Mail.

The young Kansas City Chiefs fan, wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, nearly fell headfirst from the stands while reaching for gloves from one of his heroes.

Fortunately, the Kansas Chiefs defensive end was nearby and quickly caught the boy, helping him back into the stands.

Carson Steele also assisted, ensuring the young fan was safe.

After the young fan fell over the edge, the video became unclear, obscuring the exact moment Wharton caught him.

However, it’s evident the boy didn’t hit the ground, as he was seen climbing back over the rails moments later.

A man who appears to be a security guard can be heard shouting: “Everybody, back to your seats. This kid just fell.”

A fan shared the video on X and wrote: “I don’t think bro has an account … but shoutouts to Tershawn Wharton for saving the panthers from being sued.”

The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Carolina Panthers 30-27 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, thanks to a late field goal by Spencer Shrader, moving the Chiefs to a 10-1 record for the season.

Wharton, 26, in his fifth season with the Chiefs, has played every game this season.

He signed with the Chiefs in 2020 and has featured in every game this season. Prior to that, he played college football at Missouri S&T.

Chiefs now faces a shorter turnaround following Sunday’s game.

The Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs will face the Las Vegas Raiders in a divisional matchup at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday.
