Michael Rainey Jr., a star of “Power Book II: Ghost”, has teamed up with the R.A.R.E. (Restoring America through Recovery Education) Foundation to provide financial literacy resources to three high schools in Staten Island, New York.

As reported by Hot97, this partnership with R.A.R.E. aims to empower underserved communities by providing young individuals with the essential tools needed to confidently manage their financial futures.

While visiting Port Richmond High School, Rainey Jr. talked about his personal journey with financial literacy, highlighting how vital financial preparedness is for students as they transition into adulthood

“As a kid being in this room I would definitely go home, ask my parents what their credit score is and then start the conversation of when can I become an authorized user on your account so I can start building,” he shared in a video posted by the R.A.R.E. Foundation.

Rainey Jr. has contributed over $600,000 towards this financial literacy initiative, which is part of a total estimated investment of $2.4 million that will be distributed to three high schools across Staten Island, NY.

The 24-year-old’s support is set to directly benefit students in Staten Island, helping them lay the groundwork for long-term financial stability. This initiative is a part of R.A.R.E.’s broader mission to combat financial inequities.

The organization has initiated similar programs throughout New York City, partnering with notable figures like Tashera Simmons and the rap group The L.O.X., who have endorsed financial literacy efforts benefiting more than 7,000 students in Yonkers.

The R.A.R.E. Foundation is committed to enhancing financial literacy in underrepresented communities by providing access to vital resources such as identity protection, credit monitoring, and digital learning tools.

In their acknowledgment on Instagram, the organization said, “Huge THANK YOU to @michaelraineyjr for sponsoring Port Richmond High School and providing every student and their parents with essential Financial Literacy Education and Equifax Identity Theft Protection! Your commitment to empowering the next generation is truly inspiring. This marks the first step in our mission to ensure every NYC student is financially prepared for adulthood.”

On its official website, R.A.R.E. emphasized its mission: “We are dedicated to giving every individual the opportunity to recover, improve, and thrive financially. Everyone, regardless of their circumstances, deserves a chance to achieve financial stability and success.”
