American actress Skai Jackson is making waves in the entertainment world by captivating audiences with her talent, charm and undeniable presence. On the back of her Disney Channel stardom to social media sensation, the rising star is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
She was born on April 8, 2022, in New York City’s Staten Island borough. Jackson’s parents separated at the time she was young—and was then brought up by her mother. She is known to be of Afro-Honduran and African-American descent.
Jackson started a career as a child model and appeared in many national commercials for brands like Band-Aid, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Old Navy.
She landed her first key role in acting in a 2007 independent film Liberty Kid. Jackson then made a guest appearance in the 2008 episode of Rescue Me. She also had a role as Little Fish in The Rebound in 2009. The American actress further had minor roles in the television series Team Umizoomi, Royal Pains and Boardwalk Empire. She was also featured in Arthur and The Smurfs 2011 films.
Skai Jackson took up a role as Zuri Ross in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie in 2011. The sitcom, which was aired for four seasons ended in 2015. This role earned her a NAACP Image Award nomination.
She played the character Joetta Watson in the Hallmark Channel television film The Watsons Go To Birmingham in 2013. In 2014, Jackson appeared as a guest in one of the episodes of Disney XD’s animated series Ultimate Spider-Man. Her role as Zuri in the series Bunk’d was reprised from 2015 to 2018. This was after her inclusion on Time magazine’s list of “Most Influential Teens” in 2016 and also being nominated for Best Influencer at the Shorty Awards in 2017.
The rising star’s guest appearance in Marvel Rising: Initiation as Glory Grant occurred in 2018—of which the role was a reprise in Marvel Rising: Chasing Ghosts, and Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands.

She trended on social media after appearing in Lil Nas X’s ‘Panini’ music video in 2019 after a lot of memes were generated because of her character which was not able to escape the rapper. In the same year, Jackson started her writing journey by coming out with the book Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower, and Clapback. She further voiced Summer on the Netflix animated series DreamWorks Dragons: Rescue Riders, ending in 2020.
2020 also saw Jackson being unveiled as one of the celebrities who competed on the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars with Alan Bersten. After making it to the semi-finals, the duo finished in 10th position.
Jackson’s first feature film role in 10 years came after she featured in Sheroes, an action film in 2023. In the same year, she was scrutinized after she hosted a $5 raffle with a MacBook as a prize through CashApp. Jackson was accused of trying to gain money by scamming her followers. She, however, defended that, “It is not that serious, for a damn $5. It is called a raffle.”
