Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album “GNX” has taken the music world by storm, securing the top spot on the charts with impeccable timing.
Billboard reported that “GNX” moved an impressive 319,000 album equivalent units, dwarfing the heavily promoted “Wicked” soundtrack, which sold 139,000 units.
K. Dot’s new age West Coast classic has made the “Wicked” soundtrack look like a Munchkin in comparison, according to TMZ.
Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” has become his fifth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 Chart.
The album, which tackles issues like the Drake beef aftermath and Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl performance revolt, resonated deeply with fans.
It also features several California-based rappers, including RJMrLA, who appeared in the “Squabble Up” video without knowing he was being filmed.
In contrast, the “Wicked” soundtrack’s performance might have benefited from fan engagement in theaters.
