Amber Adams was arrested earlier this year for allegedly attempting to leave her children at a 7-Eleven gas station while under the influence. A witness on June 6 reported that Adams appeared extremely intoxicated at the gas pump and allegedly yanked one of her children by the arm before throwing him to the ground, as outlined in the affidavit.
A friend of Adams intervened and placed the child back in the vehicle. According to WLOS, Adams later confessed to consuming wine and tequila and stated that she couldn’t reach the children’s father, Dariyon Weeden, to arrange a custody exchange. She had initially planned to leave her children at the gas station for him to pick up, as noted in the police report.
The report detailed that Adams attempted to leave her 4-month-old and 11-month-old children at the gas pump, stating she needed to get some “slingy sling.” When asked about this term, she clarified that she was going to someone’s house to “F***.”
Court documents reveal that an officer in Oklahoma City pulled Adams over near 6001 NW 158th St, during which she admitted to being under the influence of an unknown narcotic. However, she later altered her statement, claiming her plan was to leave the children to visit someone for personal reasons.
Her friend informed the police that he had only known Adams for two months and recalled a time when she drank four shots of tequila with the children in the car. He corroborated the claim that Adams meant to leave the children unattended at the gas station.
During this investigation, authorities discovered a third child, a 6-year-old, who was initially unaccounted for. After several attempts, police located the third child and contacted the Department of Human Services, which took custody of all three children.
Adams is currently on probation in Florida due to a prior case of child neglect.
