Morgan Freeman celebrated New Year’s Eve at his Mississippi bar, Ground Zero Blues Club, with Al Green. The Oscar winner joined the music legend on stage for a duet of Green’s 1971 hit “Let’s Stay Together.”
Social media footage captured the performance, with Freeman and Green dressed sharply as they sang the chart-topping classic alongside a live band.
“I’m so in love with you / Whatever you want to do / Is alright with me / ‘Cause you make me feel so brand new / And I want to spend my life with you,” the two stars sang, grooving to the beat with massive smiles on their faces.
Freeman posted photos from the performance to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “We ushered in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year, everyone!”
CNN’s Oscar Jimenez shared a video of the moment to his Instagram page, writing in the post’s caption, “Morgan Freeman got on stage to make his ‘dream come true.’ He said it was to sing with Al Green.”
Freeman co-founded Ground Zero Blues Club in 2001 to honor the Mississippi Delta’s blues heritage, and it continues to thrive as a cultural landmark.
Freeman, who has remained active in Hollywood, starred in My Dead Friend Zoe and Gunner and appeared in the series Special Ops: Lioness in 2024.
Looking ahead to 2025, Freeman will reprise his role in Now You See Me 3, joining a star-studded cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, and Rosamund Pike.
