Former Vice President Kamala Harris has thrown her support behind U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Texas Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, offering a high-profile endorsement as Crockett faces concerns about her appeal in a general election.

A spokesperson for Crockett’s campaign confirmed Friday that Harris recorded a robocall endorsing the candidate.

Crockett is competing Tuesday for the Democratic nomination against state Rep. James Talarico, who is highlighting his ability to attract Republican voters in a heavily GOP state.

Known on Capitol Hill for her sharp rhetoric, Crockett has gained national attention as a fighter willing to confront former President Donald Trump and his allies, energizing voters seeking bold leadership.

The Texas primary marks the first major contest of the 2026 midterm elections.

Harris’ backing, according to the AP, arrives as Trump makes a stop in Corpus Christi, Texas, though he has yet to publicly support incumbent Sen. John Cornyn or any challenger positioning themselves as his ally.

While the seat remains a tough pickup for Democrats, some in the party are hopeful that the right combination of factors could swing the November election.
