Fast-rising British-Ugandan actor Daniel Kaluuya walked away with the EE Rising Star award at the 2018 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards held at The Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday, February 18.
The 28-year-old actor and writer had a very successful year thanks to his outstanding performance in the Oscar-nominated movie “Get Out”. He continued his remarkable run by landing a role in Marvel’s blockbuster hit “Black Panther”.
During his acceptance speech on Sunday, Kaluuya paid a glowing and emotional tribute to his mother. “I’d like to thank my mum,” he said. “My mum is the reason. Mum? You’re the reason why I started, you’re the reason why I’m here, and you’re the reason why I keep going. Do you understand? Thank you for everything.”
