In spite of the absence of conflicts in recent times, South Africa has a massive defence budget to the tune of $4,6 billion. Its aircraft and naval vessels are very well equipped with the latest technology, with less than 100,000 active front line personnel because their technology affords them the capabilities and manpower for much more. There is a vast array of land system technology, and the country uses its highly advanced military for peacekeeping and international cooperation.
