Jamaican-American supermodel, musician and actress Grace Jones is known for her fierceness, unique fashion taste and for being unapologetically outspoken.
Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica on May 19, 1948, Jones moved to the United States with her siblings when she was a teenager to join their parents.
Her career as a model in the U.S. did not start on a good note due to her body and frame. She, however, moved to Paris where she became a very sought-after supermodel working for international and well-known designers including Yves Saint-Laurent, Claude Montana, Kenzo Takada, Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, Hans Feurer and Azzedine Alaïa, according to IMDb. She has also graced the covers of Elle, Vogue and Der Stern magazines.
Also a musician, Jones released her first studio album “Portfolio” in 1977. In 1984, she received a Grammy nomination for Best Video Album for her “A One Man Show” music video. She has also been nominated for several other awards winning some along the line.
Her career as an actress has also seen her feature in popular movies including Conan the Destroyer, May Day, A View to a Kill (James Bond film), Boomerang, among others.
