Jacobs Petrus ‘Koos’ Bekker is a business tycoon, the 4th Billionaire in South Africa, and the 10th Billionaire in Africa, with a net worth of $2.7 billion as of 29/01/2023. He co-founded the first-ever two pay-television services outside U.S. soil – M-Net and Multichoice.
He was the founding director of MTN, the largest telecommunication service provider in Africa. In 1997 he became the CEO of Naspers; the company’s market capitalization grew from about $1.2 billion to $45 billion under his tenure. It later became the largest media firm in Africa, operating in 130 countries worldwide, and listed in several stock markets.
