Anton Rupert
Anthony Edward Rupert was a successful businessman, philanthropist, and Conservationist. He established the Voorbrand Tobacco Company in 1939, which focused on manufacturing snuff. He later renamed the business Rembrandt Limited, which later became a group.
Rembrandt later split into Remgro (an investment company with interests in finance, mining, and industrials) and Richemont (a Swiss luxury goods company). His son Johann Rupert is now at the helm of affairs of the companies. Anton was born on October 4, 1916, and died on January 18, 2006.
