After seeing her 2-year-old son Arris’s preschool photos that he had taken at his school, Keishaun Anderson was at a loss for words.

“I was kind of speechless— I couldn’t believe he didn’t smile at all. But it was super hilarious to me,” she told People, expressing her surprise at seeing him sitting with a pouty expression, hood up, and holding his Spider-Man toy. “My family and friends also laughed because they know how expressive Arris can be.”

She also told Good Morning America, “He’s made that face around me hundreds of times but he normally loves school and he’s normally not really upset. So I was just so shocked that he did that, especially … because just 30 minutes prior to that, we were in the car and I took pictures of him and he was smiling.”

Since her 2-year-old is generally highly photogenic, she thinks that his serious mood on September 10 wasn’t caused by anxiety or camera shyness.

She speculated: “I think he just wanted to go play on the playground with his classmates.”

Another recent milestone that Anderson, a hairstylist, believed might have had an impact on Arris was his first haircut.

She revealed, “He had a lot of hair, but it was a bit much to manage and he did not like getting it done so he got his first haircut. And as you could assume how a child would feel, some days, he doesn’t really like it,” adding “If he’s more comfortable with his hood on, I’ll let him do it. I just did not know he was going to keep the hood on for the photo.”

Anderson shared the photographs on Instagram, prompting plenty of humorous replies. She still intends to add copies to their family photo album and frame them to display on the walls of her house.

She remarked, “I love the outcome of the pictures. It’s going to be a family memory for us. These pictures are going to linger around forever. He’s not going to be able to live it down.”
