Losing his mother at a very young age did not deter him from reaching for greatness

Born on January 6, 1982, Amon’s mother unfortunately passed away before his second birthday. In 1994, he developed a keen interest to participate in local tournaments in Zambia after his brother introduced him to the board game. By the age of 13, he held the under-21 national championship title, and though he was very young, he had his eyes set on higher heights. He participated in the chess Olympiad and represented the Zambian national chess championship in 1996. He later won the entire event at the age of 14 and reached the destination he sought by 1998 when he became an international master.
