Mike Sonko – Kenya
At an early age of 35, Mike Sonko was elected the Member of Parliament for the Makadara Constituency in Kenya. This was the beginning of his rise to political fame in this populous East African country.
During his time in parliament, he gained notoriety for flaunting House Rules, including incidences of inappropriate dressing. In 2013, he stood for elections to become a senator and won, making him the first Senator of Nairobi in 2013.
In 2016, Sonko began announcing his intentions to contest for the position of Governor for Nairobi and by the end of a 2017 election, he won the bid, unseating then incumbent Governor, Evans Kidero.
This made him the second Governor of Nairobi.
Sonko is very popular for owning gold-plated vehicles and using gold-plated phones. He is also noted as a man who drinks gold wine.
Sonko, according to Kenya-today.com, was spotted earlier this year donning a pair of Versace loafers believed to be worth over Sh500,000 ($4,755).
He is, however, very popular for being philanthropic, especially through his charity, Sonko Rescue Team.
